One night, while Eros is asleep, Psyche lights a lamp to see him. But as she looks upon his divine beauty, a drop of hot oil from the lamp falls on Eros, waking him. Realizing that his secret has been discovered, Eros flees from Psyche, leaving her heartbroken.

Desperate to win back Eros’s love, Psyche embarks on a quest to seek the help of Aphrodite. The goddess sets forth a series of seemingly impossible tasks for Psyche to complete, hoping that she will fail. However, with the aid of various creatures and divine intervention, Psyche overcomes each challenge.

One of the most challenging tasks is a journey to the underworld to retrieve a box of beauty from Persephone, the queen of the dead. Psyche is warned not to open the box under any circumstances. However, curiosity gets the better of her once again, and she opens the box, releasing a deep slumber that overtakes her.

Eros, who has recovered from his initial anger, finds Psyche lying in a lifeless state and realizes that he cannot live without her. He awakens her with a gentle kiss, and they are joyfully reunited. Eros pleads with Zeus, the king of gods, to grant Psyche immortality, and Zeus grants their wish, making Psyche a goddess. Thus, Eros and Psyche are united forever, their love triumphant.
